“2010 Make-up trends”

There is a sense of make-up for the coming season that looks 'effortless'. It is not about a lot of make-up but it's all about a lot of impact. Last season there is a lot of smokey eyes, well defined lips and constructed looks. This season it is more like having one single product that stands out.

Cool and Simple

Effortless make-up with a strong impact. To reach this effect we focus on one element in the face. Whether it is a bright lip or a strong eye, or a liner, the idea of make-up being glamorous at all costs is gone. It is more make-up with the focus on cool, on simplicity. The make-up for 2010 is cool but strong.

Strong women, strong faces

Lips or eyes, at the end it's all about a mix of impact. They are tough and strong, but not really made-up. But they stand out because they have great lips, intense eyes or think of the photographs of Steve Hiett in the 80's. It is really about leaving the girls look like themselves with this element of something going on on their face...

“2010 Summer Trends and Hairstyles for Men”

The trends for men this spring/summer 2010. Haircuts, what are the lengths and the styles that will be 'trendy to wear' during the warm season of 2010? Are the haircuts getting longer?

For the men, we will be seeing a lot more natural movement rather than the sleek and straight looks we saw last season. So lots of curls and texture, perfect for that relaxed

summer look. Another trend likely to be popular is influenced by a strong 80's feel with a long, heavy fringe and shaved sides and back.

Men and hair coloring. Yes or not? And which are the trendy colors for the new season?

Color will always be predominantly the realm of women but with 40% of our clientele being male, rising to nearly 60% in the city - it is an area which is being explored more and more by our male clients.

At the moment, one of the most popular reasons for men having their hair colored is to camouflage grey hair.

For men, it is more about enhancing the hairstyle and natural hair color rather than following the latest color trend like women do.

Who is the 'style icon' for the spring/summer season? Who is inspiring the hairdressers, and who is inspiring the public?

Even more so for men, it is all about individual style and suitability. It is quite rare for a man to go into a salon with a picture of a celebrity. They are more likely to know what type of style they want.

What style of haircut do you suggest for the 'businessman' who still wants to have a trendy and up-to-date look but has to deal with an 'office dress code'? And for a younger and more free type of guy?

For businessmen then shorter style is a must, ask for clean, sharp and short outlines that shows off healthy hair.

For younger men, why not try a rock and roll influenced style, such as the quiffed James Dean 50's style. It's a great look for guys as it's a bit of cool nostalgia yet at the same time effortlessly sexy.

“2010 Summer Trends and Hairstyles for Women”

This spring/summer what are the lengths and the styles that will be “trendy to wear” during the warm season of 2010 for women?
As the official hair care sponsors of London Fashion Week, the TONI&GUY Session Team work their magic backstage on over 20 catwalk shows and presentations each season. While working on the Spring/Summer 2010 shows the team created a series of inspiring, trend-setting hair. Hot for 2010 includes classic ballerina buns, big feminine voluminous hair and a focus on texture and finish, whether it is the slicked back wet look or polished and groomed with natural movement.
And what about the hairdos for long and for short hair? This season, hair is about being playful and rebellious so if you have long hairs try braiding it. If you feel braiding is too twee then try a fish tail plait for a rougher, edgier look. As for short hair, it is about movement and texture, so make sure hair has slight volume and doesn't lie flat to the head.
The colors. Is 'platinum blonde' still the trend? Which ones are the new colors?

• Reds
Hotting up with the season, reds are embracing amber and cinnamon copper shades that shimmer and glow. Intensity is subtler and more natural as Plums and Damsons pastelise into soft summery hues.
• Brunettes
The perfect accent for a sun-kissed visage – introducing soft flushes of caramelized toffee and hazelnut, delicately dispensed through the hair for an organic and natural finish.
• Blondes
All about diffusion of tone - highlights are seamless and fluid with vanillaesque and cool creamy finishes, whilst warmer blondes are gorgeous in honeycomb and syrup enhanced hues.
Who is the 'style icon' for the spring summer season? Who is inspiring the hairdressers, and who is inspiring the public? There isn't just one style icon. It is all about individual style and adapting trends to suit your own hair type.
Take inspiration from celebrities and models on hair you want but ask your hairdresser if this will suit your face shape, texture and adapt accordingly.
A 'do not' advice for our readers. The mistake they should avoid if they want to have a trendy and modern hairstyle this summer. Do not neglect your hair in the summer. This summer, it is all about beautiful healthy hair and prolonged exposure to the sun tends to dry it out.
Keep hair in perfect condition with label.m Protein Spray (250ml, £11.50), it contains UV Sunscreen to act as a shield against harmful rays and color fade.
