Barrio Fiesta

It's almost summer time. It's now the time to go back in our hometown.Hello Bicol, here I come.I'm always excited to go back in hometown because of the new summer adventure.Swimming with my friend and family are two of the awesome event in our town but do you know what I am excited about,a barrio fiesta.

Barrio fiesta was celebrated in our barangay on May 9-10. A two day event that full of surprises and excitement. Before barrio fiesta, there has an "aurora".It is a 9 day prusicion of San Isidro DE Labrador (saint of farmers).I'm really excited in this tradition because the Filipino value was seen in this event.

Before the day of feast, we have fun decorating our house and streets to make it more colorful.Children, youth, and adults gather in one place for a barangay cleaning or "Rabus".

In the first day of event, you will heard the noise of the pig that stated to kill as food in our visitors.During the eve, expect dinuguan and paksiw na baboy will be served in the table. You can transfer to another house because everybody are welcome. After eating , youth gather in barangay hall for a a night party. You can groove in the midst of crowd . If you don't feel dancing, you may go to "Perya" wherein a lot of games awaited to you.

In the second day, there's a mass in a chapel followed by the baptismal.Maybe you will be invited as Ninong or NInang. Dont forget your "pakimkim".In lunch time, enjoy the variety of food such as caldereta, kare kare, adobo, menudo and so on.Foods are absolutely free.

Through this event that inherited from our ancestors, I can shout to the world that I am a Filipino.
